Sublime Remains is a Chicago custom bag, garment, and accessory company. Each limited edition bag, garment, wallet, and accessory features a custom-made design that tells a story. In 2021, Av Grannan took her art degree and turned it into Sublime Remains. She still designs all the artwork and assembles every piece by hand; each creation is wearable functional art. Her work can be found across the country.

Av Grannan is an interdisciplinary artist who blends art, fashion, and sustainability. She believes that making people feel creative while wearing clothing or accessories brings more worth to everyday items. The garments and bags come to life differently for each individual. Grannan primarily uses sustainable or up-cycled leather, canvas, fabrics, and natural fibers. As she creates work for each collection, she thinks about the history of the raw materials. Her journey builds the work produced, whether using a couch from the side of the road or old army wear. Combining these different materials with other objects she has taken apart helps the pieces come to life. Grannan’s wearable artwork has layers of different stories built up and sewn together, making a new narrative that becomes unusual and unique.

Av is the 2021 Cornelia Steckl Fashion Fellowship recipient and graduate of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).
